Folk Music

In the old times, tswana music was mostly vocal and performed without drums,it made heavy use of string instruments.Instruments such as gumba gumba'Segankure/Segaba',and Setinkane were the most commonly used. For the last few decades,a guittar has been used as a versatile music instrument for Tswana music and it marked a great revolution in Tswana music. The guitar was originally played in a manner similar to segaba but with a better rhythm due to plucking, and completely replacing segaba.

SEGABA

This is a traditional music instrument which was commonly used in the old times in Botswana.it is played using a nicely shaped stick. The stick is moved back and forth on the tightened string to produce a very nice sound while the player is singing.
